MM was in fact attempting the feat of composing a palindromic haiku. In this effort, the lover of wildlife must care for all of Nature around him, the flora as well as the fauna. This was composed by just thrashing about and is the best MM could come up with, but he'll keep trying—that's just the kind of guy he is!
